This article gives you the steps to connect a site developed with\u00a0Google Sites<\/a> to your subdomain. Google Sites is a tool that lets you easily create websites using structured templates. Learn more about\u00a0Google Sites<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To forward your root domain (example.com) to your subdomain (subdomain.example.com), create a subdomain forward<\/a> for @.<\/p>\n

If you didn’t create a Google site with the same email address as your Google Domains account, add the email address of your Domains account as a user of your site. Then, give that account site-level permissions of “Is owner.” Learn more about how to share your site with other people<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In addition, make sure the site is public<\/a>. Redirects won’t work until you publish the site.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Create a CNAME record in Google Domains<\/strong><\/h2>\n

To add your subdomain as a web address for a site you created on Google Sites, you first need to create a CNAME record in Google Domains. To create a CNAME record, follow these steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Sign in to\u00a0Google Domains<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Select the name of your domain.<\/li>\n
  3. In the left navigation panel, click\u00a0DNS.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Scroll down to\u00a0Custom resource records.<\/em><\/li>\n
  5. Create a CNAME record with the following inputs:\n

    • Name:<\/strong> The subdomain of the web address you want to use with the Google Site (e.g. www)<\/li>\n
    • Type:<\/strong> CNAME<\/li>\n
    • TTL (Time to live):<\/strong> 1h<\/li>\n
    • Data:<\/strong> GHS.GOOGLEHOSTED.COM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Click\u00a0Add<\/strong> to save the record.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
