Unlike WordPress, there is no \u201cForgotten Password\u201d option that will allow you to reset your password if you\u2019ve lost it. There is one way of changing the password and that is by making some changes within the database itself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1. <\/span><\/strong>Firstly,<\/span><\/span>\u202f<\/span>log<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in to\u00a0<\/span>cPanel<\/span>.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/strong> Click on the \u201cphpMyAdmin<\/strong>\u201d<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You will be automatically redirected to an interface where all your databases can be seen.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you click on your\u00a0database\u00a0you will see all the tables for it. What you are looking for is<\/span>\u00a0the _users table.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You have two options (please choose one method only)<\/span>:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 1.<\/strong> In the _users table, you can double click in the password field and replace it with your own MD5 password to log<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in with.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Browse to your Joomla\u00a0<\/span>admin<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>p<\/span>age and enter the password you\u2019ve just set.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Step 2.<\/strong> In the _users table you can double click in the password field and replace it with:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Press \u201cEnter\u201d to save the new password.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You will see a \u201c1 row affected\u201d message and your password will have been changed to \u201csecret\u201d.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Login to the back end of your Joomla site with your admin account and \u201csecret\u201d as the password.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Once logged in, change your password to something more secure.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
