This Article will show you how to setup Access to Virtual Directories in Windows Plesk <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

How to set access permissions for a virtual directory within a website:<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/span>Go to Websites & Domains<\/strong> and find the website\u2019s domain name.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

2.<\/span><\/span>Click Virtual Directories<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

3. <\/span><\/span>To set access permissions for the current virtual directory, in the Tools<\/strong> group, click Directory Access Permissions<\/strong>. If you want to set permissions for a subdirectory located within the current directory, click the Manage Permissions<\/strong> icon<\/span>\"image-75081.png\"in a corresponding row.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4. <\/span><\/span>Do the following:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To make the file\/folder inherit permissions from a parent folder (if it does not), select the checkbox Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To make the files and folders, which are contained in this folder, inherit the folder permissions you define, select the checkbox Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To change or remove permissions from a group or a user, click the required name in the Group or user names<\/strong> list. If the group or user is not listed in the Group or user names<\/strong> list, select the required user or group name from the menu located above the list and click<\/span>\"image-75082.png\": the user\/group appears in the list. Select it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To allow or deny permissions to a selected group\/user, select the Allow<\/strong> or Deny<\/strong> checkboxes corresponding to permissions listed under \u00a0Permissions for<\/strong><user\/group name><\/strong>. If the checkboxes in Allow<\/strong> or Deny<\/strong> columns are shown in grey, it means that the corresponding permissions are inherited from a parent folder.<\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To deny the permissions, which are inherited from a parent object as allowed, select the required checkboxes under Deny<\/strong>. This will override inherited permissions for this file\/folder.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To allow the permissions, which are inherited from a parent object as denied, clear the Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here<\/strong> checkbox: this removes the inherited permissions. Then select the required checkboxes under Allow<\/strong> and Deny<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To remove access permissions from a group or user, select the required name in the Group or user names<\/strong> list and click the icon<\/span>\"image-75084.png\"next to it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/span><\/span>If you need advanced fine-tuning of permissions, click the Advanced<\/strong> button, and do the following:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To create a permission entry for a group or user, select the required name from the Group or user names<\/strong> list<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To set or change file\/folder permissions for a group or user, select the required name from the Group or user names<\/strong> list, select the required Allow<\/strong> and Deny<\/strong> checkboxes corresponding to permissions listed under Permissions for<\/strong><user\/group name><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To remove a permission entry for a group or user, select the required name from the Group or user names<\/strong> list<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

o<\/span><\/span>To make child objects of a folder inherit its permissions defined under Permissions for<\/strong><user\/group name><\/strong>, select the Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects<\/strong> checkbox, and select checkboxes in the Apply to<\/strong> list which correspond to the objects that must inherit the permissions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.<\/span><\/span>Click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To restrict access to files and directories located within a virtual directory:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/span>Go to Websites & Domains<\/strong> and find the website\u2019s domain name.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span><\/span>Click Virtual Directories<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span><\/span>Navigate to the directory you want to protect and click the Protection<\/strong> tab.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span><\/span>Click Protect<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

5.<\/span><\/span>To specify users who will be able to access the directory, click Add User<\/strong>, specify username and password, and click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

6.<\/span><\/span>If you want to specify a title for the protected area that will be shown to users when they attempt to access the directory, click Settings<\/strong>, specify a title, and click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To revoke a permission to access a directory from a user:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/span>Go to Websites & Domains<\/strong> and click the website\u2019s domain name.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span><\/span>Go to the Virtual Directories<\/strong> > Protection<\/strong> tab.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span><\/span>Select the checkbox corresponding to the user\u2019s name and click Remove<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

To remove protection from a directory and allow the general public to see the directory contents without restrictions:<\/span><\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/span>Go to Websites & Domains<\/strong> and click the website\u2019s domain name.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2.<\/span><\/span>Go to the Virtual Directories<\/strong> > Protection<\/strong> tab.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

3.<\/span><\/span>Click Remove Protection<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

4.<\/span><\/span>Click OK<\/strong> to confirm removal.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
