3.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Navigate to the directory in which you want to create a virtual directory.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Click Create Virtual Directory<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note:<\/span><\/strong> To create a physical directory instead of virtual directory, click Create Directory<\/strong>, specify the name of the directory and click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Specify the required parameters:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Name<\/span><\/strong> – specify the virtual directory name.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Path<\/span><\/strong> – specify the virtual directory path:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Select the Create physical directory with the same name as virtual directory<\/strong> checkbox to automatically create a physical directory with the same name as the virtual directory you are creating.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Clear the Create physical directory with the same name as virtual directory<\/strong> checkbox and specify the path in the field to select a physical directory that already exists.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Script source access<\/span><\/strong> – select this checkbox to allow users to access source code if either Read or Write permissions are set. Source code includes scripts in ASP applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Read permission<\/span><\/strong> – select this checkbox to allow users to read files or directories and their associated properties.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Write permission<\/span><\/strong> – select this checkbox to allow users to upload files and their associated properties to the virtual directory or to change content in a write-enabled file. Write access is allowed only if browser supports the PUT feature of the HTTP 1.1 protocol.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Directory browsing<\/span><\/strong> – select this checkbox to allow users to see a hypertext listing of the files and subdirectories in the virtual directory.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Log visits<\/span><\/strong> – select this checkbox if you want to store the information about visits of the virtual directory.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Create application<\/span><\/strong> – select this checkbox to make the directory an IIS application. The directory becomes logically independent from the rest of the website.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>Execute permissions<\/span><\/strong> – select the appropriate program execution level allowed for the virtual directory.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>None<\/span><\/strong> – allow access only to static files such as HTML or image files.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Scripts only<\/span><\/strong> – allow running scripts only, not executables.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>Scripts and Executables<\/span><\/strong> – remove all restrictions so that all file types can be executed.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

o    <\/span><\/span><\/span>ASP Settings<\/span><\/strong> – set specific settings for ASP-based web applications.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>If you are using ASP-based applications that cannot operate correctly under data transfer restrictions currently set by IIS, clear the Defined by parent directory<\/strong> checkbox corresponding to the field you want to change and type in the required number.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>If you want to enable debugging of ASP applications on the server side, clear the corresponding Defined by parent directory<\/strong> checkbox and select the Enable ASP server-side script debugging<\/strong> checkbox.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a7  <\/span><\/span><\/span>If you want to enable debugging of ASP applications on the client side, clear the corresponding Defined by parent directory<\/strong> checkbox and select the Enable ASP client-side script debugging<\/strong> checkbox.<\/span><\/p>\n

Note that if you are trying to change ASP Settings for the root virtual directory, the default checkbox names will be Defined by IIS<\/strong> instead of Defined by parent directory<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

6.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

To remove a virtual directory from a website:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Go to Websites & Domains<\/strong> and find the website\u2019s domain name.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Click Virtual Directories<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Select the checkbox corresponding to the directory you want to remove.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Click Remove<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.   <\/span><\/span><\/span>Confirm the removal and click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n
