Why We’re Introducing Two-Factor Authentication on Your 1-grid Account

by | 23 Jan 2026

Online security isn’t optional anymore, and neither is protecting your business data.

That’s why 1-grid is introducing Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all customer profiles accessing the 1-grid Client Portal. This added security step helps protect your account, even if your password is ever exposed. If you’ve ever worried about someone accessing your hosting, domains, email, or billing information, this update is designed with you in mind.

What exactly is Two-Factor Authentication?

Two-Factor Authentication adds a second step to your login process.

Instead of relying only on a password, 2FA asks for a one-time verification code generated by an app on your phone. This means that even if someone knows your password, they still can’t access your account. Think of it as a second lock on your digital front door.

Why aren’t passwords alone enough anymore

Cybercriminals don’t guess passwords anymore; they steal them.

Phishing emails, leaked databases, automated attacks, and malware have made passwords far less reliable than they used to be. Adding a second authentication step dramatically reduces the risk of unauthorised access to your account and the services you manage through 1-grid.

How 2FA works when you log in:

Once 2FA is enabled and have been set up, logging into your 1-grid Client Portal will look like this:

  1. Enter your username and password
  2. Open your authenticator app
  3. Enter the short verification code shown in the app

The code refreshes regularly and is only available on your device – keeping your account secure at all times.

Which authenticator apps can you use?

You can choose from several trusted authentication apps, including:

These apps are free, easy to use, and can manage multiple secure accounts in one place.

When will this be enabled?

To ensure the highest level of protection, Two-Factor Authentication will be automatically enabled on 23 January 2026. We recommend setting it up as soon as possible so you’re ready before the change takes effect.
