How to Find Your Domain’s A Record in cPanel with 1-grid

Locate your Zone Editor in cPanel to verify the IPv4 server address your domain or subdomains are currently pointing to.

If you need to check where your domain is currently pointing, you can find its A Record in cPanel. This guide shows you how to open the Zone Editor, locate your domain’s A Record, and verify the IP address your domain points to in your 1-grid Customer Zone hosting account.

How to Find Your A Record in cPanel | 1-grid

Before You Begin

Before checking your A Record, make sure you have:

  • Access to your 1-grid Customer Zone
  • An active legacy web hosting account using cPanel
  • The specific domain name you want to inspect
  • The target IP address you’re expecting (if you are verifying server parameters for a migration)

💡 Important: Simply viewing your A Record does not make any changes to your active DNS configuration settings.

Follow These Steps

1. Open cPanel

Log in to your 1-grid Customer Zone, locate the web hosting service associated with your domain, and select Login to cPanel.

2. Open Zone Editor

In your cPanel dashboard interface, scroll down to the Domains cluster section and select Zone Editor. This tool displays all DNS entries tied to your hosting assets.

3. Select Your Domain

Locate the domain name you want to check within the panel list, and click Manage next to it to render its comprehensive DNS table.

4. Find the A Record

Use the filter or search tools to narrow the results down to type A. You may see records for your root domain (e.g., yourdomain.co.za), www, or custom subdomains. The entry will display the assigned IPv4 address.

5. Check the IP Address

Compare the IPv4 address shown in the A Record with the expected values provided by your developer or hosting provider. Do not alter records unless you are certain of the destination change.

What Happens Next?

If the A Record matches your expectations, your traffic is routed correctly. Note that if you recently edited an A Record, global updates may take time due to standard network DNS propagation constraints.

You’re Ready!

You have successfully located your domain’s A Record via the cPanel Zone Editor. Keep configurations clean and cross-reference adjustments against your deployment plan.
