.com Pricing Update: More Value from 1-grid

Secure your international web presence for less with our newly reduced, locked-in rates on domain registrations, renewals, and transfers.

1-grid has actively reduced its retail pricing for all .com domain transactions across our entire hosting infrastructure, following the recent .com pricing update. The global registry operator for the .com namespace, Verisign, has officially announced an upcoming registry-level wholesale fee increase of 6.92% under its contract with ICANN. However, 1-grid is choosing to absorb this global wholesale increase entirely on behalf of our clients. In fact, we have already decreased our retail prices to pass massive long-term savings directly down to your business today. This guide explains our updated pricing structures, how we stand out against competitors, and how these changes impact your billing cycles inside your 1-grid Customer Zone profile.

Before You Begin

Before reviewing your domain renewal invoices, registering your new domain or transferring your domain, ensure you note these baseline details:

  • Immediate Activation: Our updated, lower retail price structure is live right now for all new transactions.
  • Transaction Information: These price reductions apply to new .com registrations, annual renewals, and incoming registry transfers.
  • Automatic Application: No manual activation codes or promotional coupons are required. The lower rates apply natively across our system carts.

What Is Changing at the .com Registry?

The .com registry is operated globally by Verisign. This organisation manages the authoritative registry infrastructure for all .com domains under policies established by ICANN.

The underlying Registry Agreement allows Verisign to increase the price of .com registrations by up to 7% in each of four years within a six-year pricing period. The current pricing period began in October 2024. Therefore, Verisign has announced that its annual registry-level wholesale fee will officially increase by 6.92% on 1 November 2026.

This is a registry-level pricing change rather than a retail adjustment. The ultimate retail price a consumer pays always depends on your specific registrar or service provider. While competitors may use this global registry hike to raise customer prices, 1-grid has done the exact opposite.

What Will .com Domains Cost at 1-grid?

To provide complete transparency for your business planning, you can review our direct structural retail comparison table below, following the global upcoming .com pricing update:

.com Service Type Previous 1-grid Retail Price New 1-grid Retail Price (Live Right Now) Your Direct Savings
New Registration R289 / year R269 / year R20 Less
Annual Renewal R299 / year R279 / year R20 Less
Domain Transfer In R299 R259 R40 Less

Note: Your incoming domain transfer includes a full year’s extension renewal applied natively onto your current registration expiration clock.

Do I Need to Do Anything?

If your .com domain is already registered with 1-grid, there is no action you need to take because of this pricing update. Your domain name, website, email hosting services, and custom DNS settings will continue functioning exactly as normal.

If your domain is approaching its standard expiry date, you can continue to manage your renewals through your 1-grid Customer Zone as usual. Because our new rates are live immediately, any new .com domain you register or move to 1-grid will capture these maximum savings instantly.

Should I Renew My .com Domain Early?

You may have seen global industry advice encouraging domain owners to renew their .com domains immediately to beat the worldwide wholesale fee increase.

At 1-grid, there is no need to rush or panic buy. Because our active retail renewal price has already dropped to R279/year (which is R20 lower than our previous R299 fee), your normal renewal timing and domain expiry date should remain your guide. We have securely locked down your lower rates ahead of the global registry shift.

Why Is 1-grid Reducing Its .com Prices?

The global cost of operating and maintaining domain infrastructure can change over time. However, we continually review how we price our services for our local customers. For this update, we have chosen to absorb the underlying registry increase and reduce our retail customer pricing instead. This stands out against industry trends and reinforces our ongoing commitment to keeping your essential digital assets accessible, predictable, and exceptionally good value.

What Happens Next?

Our reduced billing calculations are actively running across our infrastructure.

  • Proactive Invoice Generation: Standard renewal notification emails will generate with the lower R279 fee calculation line automatically.

You’re Ready!

Your overview of our updated international domain pricing structure is complete. Partnering with 1-grid ensures your international brand assets scale efficiently, helping you expand your web footprint without placing unneeded constraints on your cash flow.
